L. M. Montgomery Tour and Play: Leaskdale Manse National Historic Site and Historic
Leaskdale Church (Leaskdale, Ontario)
Tuesday, August 11, 2026
Hosted by the Lucy Maud Montgomery Society of Ontario, this special day trip invites visitors to experience the life and legacy of Lucy Maud Montgomery. Travel to the historic village of Leaskdale, Ontario for an enriching literary journey, visiting the place where Montgomery wrote half of her books, including the beloved Anne of Green Gables sequels.
Today, the Leaskdale Manse National Historic Site is both a provincial and national historic site, carefully restored to reflect the period when Montgomery lived there (1911–1926). The adjacent Historic Leaskdale Church houses an interpretive centre featuring artifacts, photographs, and exhibits from her life. The upstairs sanctuary remains as it was when her husband, Ewan Macdonald, served as minister from 1910 to 1926.
